Who or What is First in Your Life?

I Thessalonians 2:8 says "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us." Do you reach out of your comfort zone and really get to know others? Do you allow others to get to really know you? As Christians, we should be reaching out to others. They should be able to see the real us, and we should be be thrilled to share the gospel with them. How we live our lives will greatly determine whether or not we are effective witnesses. We need to truly love others, regardless of how they live their lives. We can't tell others about how much God loves them if WE don't show them that same kind of love! When God is first in our life, we should want others to know Him too. When God is first, we will be effective witnesses because we will be living our life in a way that is pleasing to God and others will see that there is something different about us.

Joshua 24:15 "....choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve....But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." People choose all sorts of things to be their "god". TV, internet, money, food, drugs, and alcohol are just a few of the things some people put first in their lives. What is first in your life? What do you spend the most time with? God needs to be first in our lives. That may seem strange for some people because they think our spouse or our kids should be #1. For Christians, as harsh as it may seem, our family and kids shouldn't be first. God alone needs to hold that place. We should give Him the first of our day. When you wake up, spend time with Him by reading your Bible and praying. That sets the tone for the rest of the day. Other things fall into place and things go just a bit smoother when we put God first. If you haven't already done so, choose to put God first in your life and see what a difference it makes in your life!
